Norman O. Hoffman, age 83, of Gibsonburg and recent resident of the Rutherford House in Fremont, died Saturday evening, October 21, at the Parkview Care Center in Fremont. Born on July 19, 1923 near Helena, Norman was the son of the now deceased Oscar and Gertrude (Nieset) Hoffman. He graduated in 1941 from the Gibsonburg High School and worked as a farmer and oil driller and producer. Norman was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gibsonburg and a member of the Knights of Columbus. On November 29, 1947 he married Phyllis Jeanne Clark at St. Michaels. She died on August 30, 2001. Besides fulfilling his wishes as being an oil pumper, Norman loved to play Pinochle with his Rutherford House neighbors and watching baseball on the TV.
Surviving are his children Michael of Gibsonburg, David (Eloise) of Wauseon, Sandra Moore of Mt. Victory, OH, Angie (Bill) Kiser of Lindsey and Leslie (Jim) Brinker of Pemberville; siblings, Beatrice (Rudy) Hensel of Tullahoma, TN, Sr. Angeline Hoffman of Mansfield and Marjorie (Dale) Stang of Fremont; seven grandchildren, Ed (Tiffiny) Hoffman, Kelli (Stephen) Hurd, Traci Schlecht, Megan Moore, Shannon and Matt Brinker and Brad Kiser; and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis, brother Russell and son-in-laws, Gene Ward and David Moore.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 26, 10:30 a.m. at the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gibsonburg. Visitation will be on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where wake services will be that evening.
Burial will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
