Richard Dick L. Homan, 81, of Fremont, died on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at his home. He was born on April 7, 1928 in Fremont to John and Jessie (Conley) Homan. Richard was a 1946 graduate of Clyde High School. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. Richard was an electrician and a master mechanic at Great Lakes Sugar for forty-four years, retiring in 1990. On January 1, 1957 he married Mary Lou Lamalie in Folkston, GA and she survives. Richard was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling.
Surviving are children, John Homan of Fremont and Julie Drenning of California; two grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Drenning and Michael Todd Drenning; sisters, Janet Brubaker of Burgoon and Virginia Fitzpatrick of Findlay. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Reverend Karl Kessler will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Kingsway with military rites by the American Legion Post and VFW.
Memorials may be made to St. Johns Church or to a charity of the donors choice.
