Catherine M. Hughes

Catherine M. Hughes, 89, Gibsonburg, died Wednesday morning at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born in Gibsonburg to the now-deceased Harry and Matta (Ferrenburg) Herr. Catherine married Ervin R. Hughes on July 18, 1936 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1996. She was a 1932 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. Later she graduated from Toledo School of Commerce and worked as bookkeeper for the Gibsonburg Elevator Association and was a homemaker. Catherine was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg, the Ohio Eastern Star in Fremont and past Worthy Matron of the Gibsonburg chapter. She is survived by son, Lee (Pamela) Hughes of Woodville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Paul J. Herr of Fremont. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, brother, Norwood Herr, sister Marjorie Schuett and one great-grandchild. Visitation: 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services: 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Fritz Merkes officiating.
