John A. Hutchinson, 87, formerly of Gibsonburg, died early Monday morning, June 5 at Genoa Care Center, Genoa. He was born on April 22, 1919 to the late Jacob and Thelma (Yeasting) Hutchinson in rural Gibsonburg on a grain and dairy farm. He was a 1937 graduate of Woodville High School. He was married to Grace Stults on June 1, 1941 by S.G. Cameron, pastor of Garfield Memorial Church of Christ, where John also served as Sunday School superintendent and deacon. John was employed by Wheeler Ford Tractor Sales, Don Paul Ford, and Sheffer Ford for many years. In his free time he enjoyed church dartball, gardening, maintaining the farm property, parading in his classic 1968 Ford car, and participating in Pioneer Auto Club and Sandusky County Kin Hunters activities.
Surviving are daughters, Anne (Frank) Pokorny of Chapel Hill, NC and Janet (Patrick) Perry of Gibsonburg; sister, Helen Deitemeyer of Woodville. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Robert; daughter, Carol Hutchinson and brother, Donald Hutchinson.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 7 from 2-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg. Services will be held on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ralph Clink officiating. Burial will follow at North Union Cemetery.
