John L. Jackson, 85 of Gibsonburg, died early Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the Genoa Care Center, Genoa. He was born on July 29, 1922 in Point Place, Ohio to the now deceased John L. & Dortha Mae (Krotzer) Jackson, Sr. John graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1942 and served in the US Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during WWII from 1942-1945. On November 27, 1947 he married Martha Judy Poer in Gibsonburg and she survives. John was a line foreman for Toledo Edison retiring in 1984. He earned a Bronze Star & two Silver Stars while in the service, along with being a member of the Gibsonburg American Legion where he was a past Commander, and also a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg. John was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He is survived by children; Ron (Sherry) Jackson of Monument, CO, Mark (Jenny) Jackson & Travis (Sherry) Jackson both of Genoa, and Joe Chris (Mickie) Jackson of Yakima, WA along with eleven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister; Bonita Billick. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the funeral home at 1:00 PM with one hour of visitation prior to the services. Military honors will be provided by the Gibsonburg American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg.
