Robert Darrell Johnson, 74, of Gibsonburg died Oct. 31, 2011 at Countryside Care Center, Fremont. He was born on Mar. 9, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN to Marion E. (Dyson) Cornell & Lloyd Johnson. He graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1960. Robert served 20 years in the U.S. Navy from June of 1955 to Aug. of 1975 spending those years of service in Glenview, Ill. He continued serving his country in the Army from Aug. 1975 to Aug. 1977 being stationed in Alameda, CA. Robert went on to be the owner/ operator of Roadrunner Enterprises, driving semi truck until retiring in 1995. On Mar. 9, 1983 he married Karen Myers in Woodville and she preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 2011.
Robert enjoyed R/ C Battleships, Planes & Boats. History was a very luring topic to him, which made watching The Military Channel a must. He was a member of the American Legion
Surviving are his sons, Eric Johnson of Tracy, CA, Karl Hoffheins (Alice M. Johnson) of Gibsonburg; daughter, Catherine Johnson of Tracy, CA; and granddaughter, Jessica Johnson of Tracy, CA.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #17 of Gibsonburg or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Services will be at a later date.
