Gibsonburg resident, Margaret I. Kerrigan, 89, died Monday morning September 6, 2010 in the emergency room at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon.
Margaret was born in Tiffin, OH on October 1, 1920 to the now deceased John M. and Teresa (Decker) Smith. She graduated from St. Patrick High School in West Virginia in 1938. On January 23, 1946 she married James P. Kerrigan in Weston, WV. He died August 16, 1995. Margaret was a homemaker and former telephone operator. A loving wife, mother and grandma, she enjoyed her family and cooking for them. She also knit and sewed as hobbies. Margaret was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gibsonburg, its former Altar and Rosary Society and the Gibsonburg Post of the American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving her are sons James P. (Linda) Kerrigan, II of Gibsonburg and Michael (Lisa) Kerrigan of Toledo; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a great, great granddaughter.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Kenneth and sister Evelyn Kimmet.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gibsonburg on Saturday, September 11, 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. The family will be receiving friends an hour before the mass. A special time of fellowship for family and friends will follow the mass in the church hall.
Burial at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg will be at a later date as she requested her body be donated to science.
Contributions in Margarets memory may be made to the Gibsonburg Post of the American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary or to St. Michaels Catholic Church.
