Verda H. King, 94, of Fremont, formerly of Gibsonburg, died Tuesday afternoon at Bethesda Care Center. She was born in Craborchard, KY to the now-deceased Sherman and Katie (Owens) Hopkins. On Nov. 2, 1927, she married Ray Frederick King in Bowling Green and he died on May 27, 1975. She was a homemaker and production worker for Union Carbide in Fremont. Verda was a member of the Garfield United Church of Christ, Gibsonburg, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 and the Order of Eastern Star Fremont chapter. Surviving are son, Paul R. (Lola) King of Fremont; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister Ruby Garn of Gibsonburg. She is preceded by brothers George, Ben and Stan Byrd. Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Ralph Clink officiating. Burial: West Union Cemetery. Memorials: Bethesda Care Center Activities Fund.
