Martha Alberta Kirsch, 93, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at her Gibsonburg home. She was the oldest of eight children born to the now deceased George L. and Margaret V. (Collet) Haubert on February 4, 1915 in Scott Township, Kansas, Ohio.
On October 21, 1935, she married Roy W. Kirsch at St. Michael's Catholic Church and he survives. Martha went to St. Marys School in Millersville and attended St. Josephs High School in Fremont. She completed cosmetology courses at The Beauty Academy in Toledo. A homemaker and beautician, Martha owned and operated her shop, Marthas Beauty Salon in Gibsonburg from 1960 until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, the Loyal Christian Benevolent Association and the American Legion Auxiliary of Gibsonburg.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are children, Donna Kirsch of Washington D.C., James Kirsch of California and Carole Ann (John) Srodes of Texas; grandchildren Derek Srodes and Holly Blanton; great grandchildren Abigail and Emily Blanton; brother Lawrence (Jean) Haubert of Woodville, sisters Ardella (Carl) Rathbun and Carolyn (Harold) Knudsen of Fremont, sister-in-laws Doris (Robert) Haubert and Bernice (Arthur) Haubert both of Fremont and Irma (Clarence) Haubert and Helen (Henry) Kirsch both of Gibsonburg along with many nieces and nephews.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Lisa Srodes, brothers Robert, Clarence, Arthur, sister Pauline Stadler and brother-in-laws Carl Rathbun and Ray Stadler.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 2, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg where a vigil service will be held that evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, where there will be an additional hour of visitation before the funeral. Rev. Ted Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
