Bertha Fern Kiser, 91, formerly of Helena, OH, passed away peacefully at her daughters home September 25th, 2006. She was born on October 31, 1914 in Helena, OH to the late R.J. and Nannie (Yoder) Heberling. She attended the Helena-Gibsonburg school system and graduated from Risingsun High School in 1933. On March 25, 1939 she married Burrel E. Kiser, also of Scott Township, who preceded her in death on Oct. 10th, 1952. Bertha maintained and operated their 120 acre farm, milked cows, fed many chickens and many sheep. She also worked at Atlas Engine Works, in Gibsonburg from March 1963 until retiring in 1977. Bertha enjoyed gardening, lawn mowing and crocheting. Bertha was a member of the Church of God in Girton. She is survived by 2 children, Tommy (Ruth Ann) Kiser of Risingsun and Joan Kiser of Fremont; 5 grandchildren, Terry (Lisa) Kiser, Sandy Hammel, Steve Cochey, Tammy (Jeff) Gottfried and Jill (John) Moorman; 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Wilbert Heberling.
Visitation will on Thursday, from 2-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Chandler Stewart officiating. Burial will be at Scott Trinity Cemetery at a later date. Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
