Gene W. Kiser

Gene W. Kiser, 79 of Fremont, died peacefully Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at his home. He was born on August 20, 1927, in Fremont to Sardis and Viola (Lipstraw) Kiser. He was a 1945 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and earned his aeronautical engineering degree from Tri-State University. Gene worked most recently for Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI, retiring in 1997 after 23 years. On April 4, 1956 he married Patricia Cronin in Angola, IN and she survives. He enjoyed many interests including playing trumpet in the Dot Kerns and Green Springs bands, softball, baseball, dartball, basketball and bowling. Gene was also an avid pilot and a farmer; together he and his wife ran the Flying K Ranch. He belonged to the Brainard Lodge of the Free Masons, Zenobia Shrine, Society of Automotive Engineers, Gibsonburg Sportsman Club, Ohio and American Quarter Horse Associations, Tri-State Rodeo Association, and Triangle G Saddle Club. He was a past member of the Sandusky County Mounted Patrol, Regional Planning, and Washington Twp Zoning Board.

He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his wife, Patricia Kiser; sons, Kirk Kiser, of Burgoon and Eric (Paula) Kiser, Gibsonburg; daughter, Cindy (Tim) Smith of West Linn, OR; grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Kiser, Anton, Alexander, and Andy Smith. Also surviving are brothers, Jack (Carol) Kiser and Burdette (Nettie) Kiser, both of Fremont. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; bother, Ronald Kiser; and sister, Dorothy Kerns.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior to the services. Pastor Todd Gates will officiate. Burial will follow at Washington Chapel Cemetery.
