William A. Kittel, Jr., 73 of Fremont died late Saturday, March 24, 2007 surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born on May 27, 1933 in Munson, Mass to William A. & Henrietta (Hasenjager) Kittel. William graduated from Westfield High School in 1950 and obtained his BS in Business Administration from BGSU. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict stationed in Japan from 1952-1955. On September 6, 1958 he married Marcia Treby in Toledo and she survives. William worked as Personel Manager for Singer Corp, and Kelsey Hayes, he also was the Human Resources Director for Tiffin Developmental Center. William had taught business classes at Terra Community College part-time from 1973-1977. He was a Rice Twp Zoning Inspector and had farmed in Rice Twp. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where he was a past council member and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of a cooking team that served church youth members on their mission trips to South Dakota, North Carolina, and Kentucky. William was a member of the American Legion Post #121, Fremont Moose Lodge, and the Sandusky County Personel Assoc. He was previously on the United Way Board of Directors, and Jr. Achievement Board of Directors, he loved farming, traveling and attending his grandchildrens sporting events. Surviving are his two daughters; Karen (Tim) Oberst of Arlington, OH, Susan (Mark) King of Fremont, four grandchildren; Seth & Ethan Oberst, and Jenny & Jared King. Also surviving William are siblings; Robert (Barbara) Kittel of Southgate, MI, Joyce (Len) Augustyniak of Swanton, OH, Christine Wein of Florissant, MO and Gail Brown of Plymouth, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew Ken Wein, and niece Meredith Treby.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 27 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Services will be held on Wednesday at St. Johns Lutheran Church at 10:30 am. Pastor Robert Quillen will officiate. Burial will follow at Lindsey Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Fremont American Legion & VFW. Memorial donations in Williams name may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or to St Johns Lutheran Church Youth Ministry.
