Ethel Mae Knipp

Ethel Mae (Neeb) Knipp, 85 of Lindsey passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at her daughters home in Lindsey. She was born on December 12, 1925 and spent her whole life in the rural areas of Elmore and Lindsey. Ethel attended Bowling Green State University and began teaching elementary school during World War II. She retired from teaching full-time in 1986. Most recently, she has been teaching migrant school every fall at Woodmore High School as well as substitute teaching. She taught her last day at Woodmore on January 31, 2011. Ethel was an active member of Bethel United Brethren Church, Elmore, Ohio where she served as organist for over fifty years. For the last twenty years, Ethel enjoyed summers at Lakeside, Ohio with her children and grandchildren. Her free time was spent with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Knipp) Steury and husband Wesley of Fort Wayne, IN, daughter Brenda Knipp of Huntington, IN, and daughter Sally (Knipp) Adams and husband Thomas of Lindsey, along with grandchildren Erin (Steury) Devers and husband Chris, Allison (Steury) Nather and husband Jason, Drew Steury and wife Teresa, and David, Jonathan, and Emily Adams. Great-grandchildren include Anna and Wesley Steury. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Dwight E. Knipp whom she married on August 3, 1947, her parents Clayton and Blanche Neeb, and her brothers Stanley and Leon Neeb. Friends may call Friday, April 8 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home, 900 North St., Fremont, Ohio. There will be an additional viewing at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 9 at Bethel United Brethren Church, Elmore, followed by funeral services at the church beginning at 11:00 am. Reverend Josh Kesler will officiate. Burial will be at the Lindsey Cemetery following the service. The family encourages memorial contributions to Bethel United Brethren Church, 9220 SR 590, Elmore, Ohio and Huntington University, 2303 College Ave, Huntington, Indiana.
