Lifelong Gibsonburg resident Florence N. Lancaster, age 91, died Monday morning, July 7, at the Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont after a stroke which occurred June 25.
Born in Gibsonburg on October 27, 1916, she is a daughter of the now deceased John and Pansy (Crispen) Brubaker. A 1936 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and member of Trinity United Methodist, Florence was a homemaker and also worked 17 years as a waitress at the former Smittys Restaurant in Gibsonburg. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
On March 10, 1973 Florence married Benjamin Lancaster at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg. He died January 22, 1983. Surviving are her daughters Carole (Richard) Kirsch and Juanita (Stan) Weigman of Gibsonburg, grandchildren Kent, Kurt and Kreg Kirsch, Kelly Peeler, Brent Weigman, Tanya Albers and Samuel Weigman, ten great grandchildren and sisters, Helen Williamson and Estella Knepper of Fremont.
She is preceded in death by infant sister Nellie Brubaker and siblings Ruth Craver, Mae Henline, Goldie La Beau and Walter, John, Ray, Willard and Norman Brubaker.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 11, 10:00 a.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg. Rev. Fritz Merkes will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Burial will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
