Lois E. Larson, 82, of Gibsonburg passed away at her home on Oct. 31, 2011. She was born in Gibsonburg to the now deceased Orville D. & Cleo (Lenhart) Myers.
Lois graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1947. While in high school, she began working at the former Ohio Fuel Gas Co., which is now Columbia Gas of Ohio, dedicating 18 years to the company. In the 1970s Lois was elected as Village of Gibsonburg Clerk and later as the first elected woman mayor of the village and its village council. She was forced to resign political office due to health issues. Lois also worked at the Gibsonburg Pharmacy and the BMV.
In Angola, IN on Dec. 3rd 1954, Lois married Wayne Larson. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2007. Lois and her husband Wayne enjoyed bowling. Lois was the first woman to bowl over a 600 series at the lanes in Woodville. They were also members of Faith United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg.
Surviving are sons, Timothy L. and Daniel L. Larson; step-daughters, Bonita Owens and Anna Habel; and grandson, Joshua W. Larson.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Jessica Larson; and siblings, Neva Myers, Wanda Claybaugh, R.B. Myers and Dwayne Myers.
Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 4th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Funeral services will be on Saturday 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Betty Wineland will officiate.
Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
