Gibsonburg resident Wayne E. Larson died Sunday morning, October 7, at the St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon. He was 81.
Born in Toledo on October 21, 1925 to the now deceased Edward and Ruth (Johns) Larson, Wayne graduated from Waite High School in Toledo and later served three years in the U.S. Navy, based on the Atlantic. Wayne worked on the railroad then on a dairy farm until being hired in at Sun Oil. He was employed there for 36 years taking an early retirement in 1985. Afterwards, Wayne became instrumental in the founding of the Windsor Lane Health Care Center in Gibsonburg and continued to work there 5 years. Wayne lastly drove school bus for Gibsonburg Schools for an additional 5 years. He attended the Faith United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg.
Surviving him is his wife of nearly 53 years, Lois (Myers), whom he married in Angola, IN in 1954, sons Timothy L. and Daniel L. Larson, daughters Bonita Owens and Anna Habel, younger brother Dale W. Larson and grandson Joshua W. Larson along with other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Jessica Eileen Larson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 11, 1:00 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg. Family and friends will be welcomed at the funeral home Wednesday 2-6:30 p.m.
Burial with military services provided by the Gibsonburg American Legion Post will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
