James (Jim) Long, 71 of Gibsonburg, died on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his home. He was born on August 19, 1937 in Gibsonburg to Lloyd (Shorty) and Irma (Rideout) Long. Jim was a 1955 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. On September 15, 1962 he married Yvonne (Bonnie) Savage at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Toledo, Ohio and she survives. Jim was the maintenance supervisor at Martin-Marietta in Woodville retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Fremont Eagles and Moose. Jim loved being outdoors working in his yard, raising tomatoes and pumpkins. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children: Matthew (Amy) Long of Newton Falls, OH, Theresa (Todd) Deunich of Mooresville, NC, Thomas Long of Gibsonburg and Patricia (Steve) Holcomb of Elmore, OH; eight grandchildren; siblings, Loma Overmyer of Englewood, FL, Lois (Leon) Rader of Elmore, OH, Lawrence (Phyl) Long of Lindsey and Linda (Roy) Copley of Gibsonburg. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Per Jims wishes, no visitation will be held. A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the family or to a charity of the donors choice.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg.
