Esther Vivian Mackey, 83 of Fremont died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at her home. She was born on June 17, 1924 in Deshler, Ohio to Orie & Wilda (Coldren) Casteel. Esther graduated from Deshler High School in 1942 and on January 20, 1945 she married John A. Mackey at St Johns Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor and he survives in Fremont. Esther worked at the Erie Proving Grounds in Port Clinton, Mr. Wiggs Department Store and retired in 1987 from Hecks Department Store in Fremont. Surviving Esther is her husband of 62 years, daughters; Judy (Ron) Campbell of Clyde, Janet (Herb) New of McKenzie, TN, and son; Jeff (Aggie) Mackey of Fremont. She is also survived by her grandsons; Mike (Amy) Schafer of Bay Village, Tom (Cyndi) Schafer of Youngsville, NC and Ken (Amanda) New of McKenzie, TN, great-grandchildren; Courtney & Austin New and Davis Leach of McKenzie, TN, Evan, Abby and Sophie Schafer of Bay Village, and Jake & Kristen Schafer of Youngsville, NC. Proceeding Esther in death are her parents and a brother; Garold Casteel. Esther was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Fremont. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Quillen officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Memorial Hospital 430 S. Main St, Clyde, OH 43410, the Easter Seals 200 S. Front St, Fremont, OH 43420 or to St. Johns Lutheran Church 212 Clover St, Fremont, OH 43420.
