Joseph Mascari

April 15, 1922 — June 18, 2007

Joseph Mascari, 85 of Fremont, died early Monday morning at his home. He was born on April 15, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA to the now deceased James and Edna (Kimmel) Mascari. On June 5, 1943 he married Ruth M. Havener in Gypsum, OH and she survives. Joseph served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe. He was an instrument technician at the Erie Armory Depot in Port Clinton until retiring in 1973. Joseph was a member of St. Ann Catholic Community, the Fremont American Legion, Fremont VFW and a former member of the Izaak Walton League and the Sandusky Civil Defense.

Surviving are daughters, Lynda Kay Hammond of Fostoria and Janet (David) Bender of Fremont; 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marie Vitelli, Rose Ann Vukela, Henrietta Laugrterbach, Irene Denk and brother, Anthony Mascari.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 20 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gerald Ceranowski officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Calvary section. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital in Josephs memory.
