Virgil L. Mac McCraw, 88, of Fremont, died on Monday, June 2, 2008 at Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 21, 1920 in Sinks Grove, WV to the now deceased Okey L. and Elizabeth (Webb) McCraw. Virgil was a 1939 graduate of Alderson High School. He received his Masters Degree in teaching from West Virginia University. On September 19, 1947 he married Nora Lee Royce in Oakland, MD and she survives. He was a member of the Eagles #712, the Moose #1286, former Lakota FFA Advisor, 4-H Club leader, President of the Sandusky Co. Teachers Association, OEA delegate, NEA delegate for the county at National Convention in NY City, President of Agriculture Committee of the Chamber and past President of Fremont Exchange Club. Virgil was an Agriculture teacher at Lakota and Administrator at Vanguard retiring in 1976. Following his retirement Virgil sold real estate. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1941 to 1946. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed gardening, wood working, attending his grandchildrens sports events and playing cards. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Sharon (Terry) Nigh of Pemberville and Brenda (Mike) Anderson of Ashland; siblings, Okey (Ethel) McCraw of Lewisburg, WV, Kathleen Ramsey of Beckley, WV; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Roger in 1984, parents, siblings Augusta McCraw, Clarence McCraw, Wanda Kirby, Ella Connell, Virginia Ratliff, Ruth Johnson, Betty Jane Richardson, Behula McCraw, Odell McCraw and Gaye Burdette.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 6th from 3-7 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Certified Celebrant, Maureen Pump will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Bethesda Care Center, Lakota FFA or to the donors choice in Virgils memory.
