Marion E. Michel

Fremont resident Marion E. Michel died early Wednesday morning, May 30, at the Memorial Hospital in Fremont. He was 89.

Born in Luckey, Ohio on May 25, 1918 to the now deceased Fredrick and Ella (Borcherding) Michel, Marion graduated from Gibsonburg High School. On April 27, 1940, he married Dorothy K. Beeker at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hessville. Dorothy died June 24, 1998.

Marion drove school bus for 50 years. He also worked for the former Schwabs Sporting Goods and the Fremont Athletic Supply. He engraved plaques and restrung rackets for them in the basement of his home for many years. Marion was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Fremont and its Dart Ball team and the Ottawa County Horsemens Association.

He is survived by his sons Eugene Clifton (Judy) Michel of Elmore and James Eldon (Rose) Michel of Fremont, four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

His brother Dale F. Michel precedes Marion in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont, with one hour of visitation prior to the services. Pastor David Nevergall will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, June 1st from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Marions name may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church, American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
