Donald R. Miller, 88, formerly of Lindsey, died on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Parkview Care Center, Fremont. He was born on June 18, 1920 in Rice Township, Lindsey to the now deceased Orville and Bessie C. (Richards) Miller. Donald attended Glasser Grade School through 8th grade, then Fremont Ross High School, graduating in 1938. He served in the Navy during WWII as a Sea Bee. On November 25, 1950 he married Helen F. Thorbahn at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor and she survives. Donald was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsey. He was a lifelong farmer, drove bus for the Fremont City Schools and worked on the Ohio Turnpike. He was also an avid supporter of 4-H, being an adviser for 25 years; attended many livestock shows; was a Lindsey Farmers Mercantile Board Member; a member of the American Angus Association and Black Swamp Angus Association. Donald enjoyed watching his children and grandchildrens sporting events. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children; Paul (Debbie) Miller of Solon, IA, Barbara (Lynn) Knipe of Upper Arlington, OH, Julia (John) Bergman of Elmore and David (Cheri) Miller of Lindsey; grandchildren, Valerie Michek, Katie Falco, Laurie Grant, Scott Bergman, Nathan Miller, Natalie Miller, Sarah Miller, Emily Knipe, Austin Miller and Caroline Miller; four great-grandchildren, Ashton and Nolan Michek, Addison Grant and Dominic Falco; sisters, Geraldine Slates and Pauline Lamale, both of Elmore. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Wendelle Miller.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 29, 2008 from 2-7 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsey with one hour of visitation at church prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lindsey Cemetery with military rites by Gibsonburg American Legion.
