Gabriel O. Montes

Gabriel O. Montes, 81 of Fremont, died early Monday at home. He was born on March 24, 1923 in Monterrey, Mexico. He married Concepcion Flores on December 1, 1962 in St. Marys Catholic Church, Clyde and she survives. Gabriel worked at Union Carbide for many years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed fixing up cars and carpentry.

Surviving are children, Rosa Rosie (Tom) Miller, Pittsburgh, Gabriel Gabe Jr., Fremont, Linda (Jesse Silverman) Montes, Chico, CA, Mark Montes, Toledo, and 5 grandchildren Kyle & Keith Miller; Marianna, Jocelyn & Ethan Silverman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and 8 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with Wake services at 3 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, March 17 at 1 p.m. at St. Casimirs Catholic Church, Fremont, with Rev. Robert Weithman officiating. Burial follow at Greenlawn Memory Garden, Clyde. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
