James George Nagy, 60, of Gibsonburg, died July 9,2005 at Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 18,1944 in Fremont to Lewis J. & Betty J. (Garey) Nagy. James graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1962. He played football for coach Herb Redding and in the 1960 & 61 seasons earned All-Ohio recognition. He also participated in 4H with the Gibsonburg Rural Leaders and Mad Scott Sodbusters under the leadership of his father, Lewis Nagy, and in the Future Farmers of America and their Parliamentary Procedure Team. On April 4, 1964 he married Lynne Emerson in St Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg, where he was a member. Mr. Nagy began his career with Robert Veh working at the Veh & Son Furniture and Funeral Home as a deliveryman and ambulance attendant, and had continued on in sales at the furniture store with the present owners for almost 42 years of dedicated service. He started his own business called Nagy Lawn & Sports Turf, and was proud to work with other Athletic Boosters in the construction of the Gibsonburg High School baseball field, and had maintained both the baseball and football fields for many years. Along with his love of working the land, Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was active in civic and church communities, serving on both the Village and Church Councils. Surviving James are his mother, Betty of Gibsonburg, Wife, Lynne and four children; Brian (Jodi) Nagy, Fayette, OH, Laura (Tim) Tasse, Gibsonburg, Kelly (Mark) McCurdy, Vermilion, OH and Christina (Jim) Waltho, Tucson, AZ. He is survived by two sisters, Gail Nagy of Gibsonburg and Mary (Robert) Kaczor of Hudson, MI; two brothers, Lynn (Beverly) Nagy of Fremont and Larry (Annie) Nagy of Gibsonburg, and was the proud and loving grandfather to his twelve grandchildren, Luke, Lauren and Megan Nagy, Sarah, Erin and Carrie Tasse, Kathleen, Allison and Sam McCurdy, Phillip, Keaton and Emma Waltho. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2-4PM & 7-9PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at St Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg, at 11:00 AM with Fr. Ted Miller officiating.
