Ronald L. Neeley, 71, formerly of Fremont, died early Friday morning at St. Francis Health Care Centre, Green Springs. He was born on May 16, 1935 to the now deceased Linden and Imogene R. (Fitzgibbon) Neeley. Ron attended Riley Township schools, graduating the eighth grade from Faust school and from Fremont Ross High School in 1953. He served in the U.S.Air Force from 1954 to 1958 in Korea as an aircraft ground control operator. Also he attained a good conduct ribbon, a Korean ribbon, and a National Defense ribbon while in service.
Mr. Neeley attended Ohio State University and University of New Mexico, graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1965 with a Bachelors in Education. He taught Art in the Fremont City Schools for three years, and at the Woodmore Schools (K-12) for four years where he also coached football, track and cross-country. He worked for the American Art Clay Company (AMACO) in sales for two years. Mr. Neeley retired from Terra Community College after developing/teaching in the graphics program for eighteen years. He was a past member of Sycamore Hills Golf Club. His favorite sports teams were the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and area high school sports programs. Ron was also a member of Hayes United Methodist Church, the VFW Post #2947 and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Fremont. He enjoyed a variety of activities such as fishing, golfing, spectator sports, coffee with his many friends at Bonnie & Cys Family Restaurant, working with watercolor and oils, sculpting and listening to Country Music.
Surviving is a sister, Wanda (Arnold) Coldiron of Pepper Pike, OH; nephew, Michael (Roben) Coldiron of Aurora, OH; niece, Lisa Coldiron of Washington, D.C.; and two grand-nephews, Linden and Austen Coldiron. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Charles Neeley.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont.
Services will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Victory Christian Fellowship, 2051 Old Oak Harbor Rd., Fremont. Pastor David Martin will be officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery
