James Oliver, Sr.

James "Jim" Oliver Sr., 79, of Fremont died Wednesday at Foundation Park in Toledo surrounded by family. He was born in Newbern, TN to Armster and Lillie (Tucker) Oliver. Jim attended Ross High School and served with the US Navy during WWII. On December 25, 1946 he married Mary Surratt in Fremont and she survives. Also surviving are children, Marcia (Martin) Johnson of Toledo, Lillian (Morris) China of Sylvania, Jaci (Frank) Applewhite of Desoto, TX, Deborah (Marcellous) McZeal of Garland Tx, James (Mary) Oliver Jr. of Dallas, TX and Yvette (Edward) King of Toledo; 11 gandchildren and 10 geat-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, a brother, Armster Oliver Jr.; sisters, Evelyn Turner, Mattie Oliver and Elizabeth Oliver. Visitation was on Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services were held at Victory Christian Fellowship on Monday. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery.
