Ruth F. Ottney, 101 formerly of Gibsonburg, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Valley View Care Center in Fremont. She was born on December 13, 1904 to Timothy and Mary (Haubert) Reardon in Fremont. Ruth was married to Sidney A. Ottney on June 16, 1932 at St. Anns Catholic Church, Fremont. He died on September 23, 1981. Ruth was a homemaker known for her warm hospitality, a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg and the Altar Rosary Society of St. Michaels. She loved cooking for family and friends, especially baking Christmas Cookies.
Surviving are daughters, Ruth A. Stang of Fremont and Mary M. Ottney of Gibsonburg; sons, Charles T. Tim (Vivian) Ottney of Lexington, SC and David T. (Pat) Ottney of Chesterfield, MO; grandchildren, Stacy Stang, Kristin Stang Neighbors, Greg Stang, Jeff Ottney, Meredith Hein, Nikki Benko & Diane McGraw; also ten great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Philip; siblings Thomas A. Reardon, Mildred Larkins, George H. Reardon, Ralph K. Reardon, Norbert J. Reardon, John R. Reardon, Dorothy Flecthner, Sr. Mary Gregory and Joseph W. Walter Reardon. Visitation will be on Friday, January 20, 2006 from 3-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Church with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
