Jack Verner Perrine was born on September 24, 1922 and died peacefully Saturday evening, Valentines Day, 2009. A Son of the American Revolution, Jack studied music at Grove City College where he met his accompanist and wife of over sixty-five years, Florence. After graduating, he served in the Air Force during World War II and, upon returning home, started a family and pursued a successful music teaching career lasting thirty-five years in Toledo Public Schools. Also a distinguished violinist for The Toledo Symphony for twenty-five years, Jack brought inspiration and happiness to those who were fortunate enough to know him. Dedicated to God, family and music, he was selflessly devoted to living an honest and good life. After eighty-six years of succeeding in doing so, Jack is survived by his wife and life-long accompanist Florence; daughters Kathie (Jim) Sherck, Valerie (Doug) DeMar, and Georgia (Mark) VanAlst; grandchildren Stephanie, Lisa, Steven, April, Nathan, Allison, Ben, Emily, Chris, Abby and Liz; and great-grandchildren Max, Mia, Logan, Caleb, Gabrielle, Lydia, Maggie, Hannah and Timmy. Jacks kindness, wisdom, humor and compassion will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched. The world has lost one of its great musicians in the symphony of life, but Heaven has triumphed in gaining such a finely tuned instrument of faith and Jacks family and friends will sing the songs of his memories forever. The ceremony is private with no visitation, but donations can be sent to the Society for the Protection of Animals, P.O. Box 1047 Fremont, Ohio 43420 or to Hampton Park Christian Church, 4234 Monroe St. Toledo, OH 43606.
