Harley J. Pertner 74 of Gibsonburg died Saturday, February 12, 2005 at his home. He was born on April 22, 1930 in Gibsonburg to William Henry & Mary Catherine (Bettendorf) Pertner. Harley graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1948 and obtained his degree in Accounting from LaSalle Extension University, Chicago. He was a US Navy veteran and worked as the Plant Manager for Detroit Gasket in Fremont retiring in 1985. Harley also was Tax Commissioner in Gibsonburg, Elmore, Genoa, Green Springs, and Sycamore until 1992. He loved golfing and watching sports, especially when his grandchildren participated. On July 8, 1950 he married Georgia L. Foos at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gibsonburg, and she survives. Harley was a member of Gibsonburg Village Council in the early 1960s, and also a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church.

Surviving are children; Scott E. (Paula) Pertner, Becky Binkley, Susie (John) Bricker, Nancy (Kevin) Balduf, Sandy (Brian) Stevenson all of Gibsonburg, William H. Pertner of Columbus, along with 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Harley was preceded in death by sister; Betty Pertner Conway and brother; Henry Pertner. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2-4 & 6-9 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg with Fr. Ted Miller celebrating. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. Memorial contributions maybe made to; Oncology Dept. of Memorial Hospital, Fremont; Hospice of Memorial Hospital Fremont or St. Michaels Catholic Church
