Melvin C. Pippert, 76, of Fremont died Dec. 8 at his residence. He was born in Vermilion to Clarence and Ruth (Keeler) Pippert. He was a graduate of Brownhelm Schools in Vermilion, received a bachelors degree from Ohio State University in agriculture and a masters degree in education from Indiana University. Melvin served in the U.S. Army as a photographer during peacetime. He held a principals certificate and was the director of vocational education for Washington Local Schools in Toledo. Melvin was a member of the Rotary Club and AOPA. He had a passion for flying. Melvin is survived by children, Gay (Paul) Pippert-Ladd, Put-In-Bay, Gayle (Terry) Stadt, Mount Sterling, April (Mike) LaVoy, Toledo, Tim (Josie) Pippert, Evans, GA; 12 grandchildren; and sisters, Marian Gringle and Lois McQueen, both of Vermilion. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont, with visitation one half hour prior to the service. Memorials: Donors Choice.
