Ruth Clara Polter, 84, of Fremont died Tuesday morning at Countryside Continuing Care Center. She was born in Vickery to David and Idella Grace (Wright) Gilbert. Ruth graduated in 1938 from Townsend Township School and married John P. Polter on May 15, 1942, at Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont. He died August 27, 1996. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing cards. Surviving are son, Thomas Polter, Vickery; daughters, Marian (Ken) Colvin, Clyde and Linda Barcus, Fremont; son, Bruce (Annette) Polter, Fremont; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Howard Gilbert, Vickery. Preceding her are her parents, husband, sister, Helen Szakovits, brothers, Clifton Gilbert, Irvin Gilbert, Arthur Gilbert and Lawrence Gilbert. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont. Services: 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with one hour visitation prior to the services. Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde. Memorials: Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
