Irene (Brockschmidt) Posey, 86, of Gibsonburg, died Thursday afternoon at St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon. She was born in Gibsonburg to the now-deceased Frank A. and Clara A. (Henline) Fehlhaber. Irene married John Brockschmidt in Wheeling, WV July 5, 1938 and he died Oct. 15, 1965. She then married Harold W. Posey of Helena, Oct. 20, 1972 in Gibsonburg and he died Oct. 28, 1991. Irene graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1935 and Davis Business College, Toledo in 1936. She was a bookkeeper for 22 years at the Gibsonburg Farmers Elevator; secretary for four years at Veh & Son Furniture in Gibsonburg and retired in 1980 from Toledo Edison Company as credit clerk after 10 years of service. Irene was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg and its Zion Women of the Church and Fremont-Gibsonburg Chapter #133 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by nieces, Sue Bahnsen and Jane Helfer; nephews Jack Driftmyer, Jan Driftmyer, Todd Fehlhaber, David Fehlhaber and dear friend Carol Gerwin. Irene ispreceded by husbands, parents, sisters, Luella Driftmyer, Irma Rose Helfer and brother, Clinton Fehlhaber. Visitation: 2-7 p.m. Sunday at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Luehteran Church where her body will lie in state beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Blair Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery. Memorials: Zion Lutheran Church or donor's choice. The family would like to acknowledge the care given by the staffs of the Windsor Lane and Genoa Health Care Centers and St. Charles Mercy Hospital.
