Mildred Lucille Promenschenkel

Lifelong Gibsonburg resident Mildred Millie L. Promenschenkel died Thursday afternoon, March 8, at the Valleyview Healthcare Center in Fremont. She was 92. Born in Gibsonburg on April 2, 1914 to Peter J. and Mary Margaret (Clay) Kirsch, Millie graduated from Gibsonburg High School and later from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, she served in hospitals in Northwest Ohio and Southern Michigan. She also worked as a private duty nurse. Millie then began serving as the office nurse for Dr. J.W. Agnew of Gibsonburg in 1963. She eventually retired from there in 1981. Millie was a member of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, the St. Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg and its Altar Rosary Society. She was also an active and participative member of the GOP, Republican Political Party and enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts. On September 30, 1941, she married Joseph F. Promenschenkel in Gibsonburg. He died on May 4, 1980. Surviving her is her son, James (Sally) Promenschenkel of Dublin, OH, granddaughters Joyce (Alan) Miroslaw and Kimberly, Linda and Michelle Promenschenkel, great granddaughter, Gwenyth Miroslaw, sister Doris Vanders of Houston, TX and sister-in-law Rosemary Promenschenkel of Genoa. She is preceded in death by brothers Paul and Edwin Kirsch and sisters Frances Segal and Iona Foos. Funeral services will be St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gibsonburg on Tuesday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Ted Miller will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, March 12, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where Rosary services will be that evening. Burial will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Gibsonburg. Memorials in Millies name may be made to the St. Michaels Catholic Church or the American Heart Association. Her family wishes to thank Millies healthcare givers Becky Claypool and Cindy Squire along with the nurses and caregivers at the Memorial Hospital ICU, 2 North, and the Valleyview Healthcare Center in Fremont.
