Phyllis Maxine Recny

February 14, 1924 — June 17, 2006

Phyllis Maxine Recny, daughter of Dewey and Lina (Phillips) Johnson, born on February 14, 1924 in Monroe, MI, died June 17,2006 at the age of 82 in Toledo Hospital after a lengthy illness. On January 20,1951 she married Martin Recny in Genoa and he survives. Also surviving are sons, Michael of Toledo, Martin Jr. at home and Mark (Viola) of Gibsonburg; daughters, Robin (Leighton) Cornell of Orlando, FL, Susan (Luke) Lawrence of Burgoon, and Amy Evans of Risingsun; brothers, Dale (Jeanie) Johnson of Gibsonburg and Robert Johnson of Morrow, OH; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert in 1995 and brother, William Johnson.

Phyllis was a member of the American Legion Post #279 Auxiliary of Elmore, VFW Auxiliary Post #2480 of Port Clinton, Eastern Star Chapter #133 of Fremont, Garfield Memorial Church of Christ and honorary member of Triumph Foundation Church of Fremont of which son Mark is Pastor. She was a graduate of Gibsonburg High School, class of 1942. She enjoyed Square Dancing at Wightmans Grove, roller-skating and fishing with her husband. She spent her free time doing crafts and most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren and reading books.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Recny officiating. Burial will be at Hessville Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to The American Legion Post #279 of Elmore, or to The Triumph Foundation Church of Fremont.
