Frieda E. Ried (Hetrick), 92, of Fremont died Saturday night, 2/19/05, at the Elmwood Assisted Living Facility in Fremont. Born in Fremont on February 4, 1913 to Phillip and Sabina (Webster) Hetrick, she graduated from Fremont Ross High School and attended the Dennison University.
Known as an excellent seamstress and pinochle player, Frieda enjoyed traveling with her husband and listening to music. A member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Fremont, she also served as a church historian and officer of the churchs womens organizations. Frieda was a member of the Sandusky County Historical Society, the Kin Hunters, supported the Rutherford Hayes Museum and spent 38 years writing the Hetrick Family History. She worked at Josephs Department Stores and later at the Birchard Library where she retired after 20 years.
On August 1, 1942 she married Glenn Frank Ried at St. Johns Lutheran Church. He died on Feb. 10, 1986.
She is survived by son Stefan (Marian) Ried and daughter Janese L. Ried both of Fremont, grandchildren Eric Michael (Stephanie) Ried and Stefanne Erin Ried and great grandsons Xavier Augustin and Donovan Michael Ried.
She is preceded in death by siblings Grover Hetrick, Ada Courtney, Earl Hetrick, Carrie Weisenbarger, Florence Anderson, Rufus Bill Hetrick.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2/23/05 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Fremont where her body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Visitation will be at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Service Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont.
