Hiliario Larry Rios, 69 of Fremont, died Saturday evening, January 14 at the Emergency Room of Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 8, 1936 in Deckerville, MI to Francisco and Brijida (Vara) Rios. On December 5, 1959 he married Mary Ruiz at St. Ann Catholic Church, Fremont and she survives. Larry worked in the maintenance department at Kelsey-Hayes Foundry for 45 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Community and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1915. Larry was a boxer for the local boxing club in the early 50s, he enjoyed coaching several local baseball teams from 1973 1978 and was very much devoted to his grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters Lona Rios, Lucy (Ron) Durdel, Cindy (Greg) Tucker, son John (Peggie) Rios all of Fremont; eight grandchildren Richard, John & Candace Lopez; Austin, Haleigh, Hannah & Hadley Rios, Travis & Stephanie Tucker and several step-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Francisco of Green Springs, David of Bucyrus; sisters, Hope Ruiz of Fremont, Mary Rios, Consuelo Garza, Janie Rios, Lola Durbin, Patricia Munoz all of Lorain and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers, Ruben and Peter, sister, Esther Ruiz, an infant sister and brother.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Anns Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Ceranowski officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Calvary Section.
