David W. Roepke Sr., 71, of Gibsonburg, died early Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 1, 1939 in Elmore, OH to Edward and Luella (Kranz) Roepke. David was a Navy veteran. He started working as a millwright and retired a member of the carpenters Local 2239. David enjoyed farming and frequented farm auctions. Being an inventor, he was awarded a patent.
Surviving are children, David (Jody) Roepke, Jr. of Oak Harbor, Daniel S. (Karis) Roepke of Woodville, Alvin L. Roepke and Annette (Mike) Almroth both of Elmore; grandchildren, Lynden, Alex, Cynthia, Daniel, Charlie, Michael, Courtney and Jeffrey; great-grandchildren, Lilliana and Josephina; friend, Alice Holewinski; siblings, Lucille Faist, Betty Bennette, Joann Bruning and Diane Fowler. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charlie & Jim, infant brothers, Donald and Edward Jr.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 5th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be held on Monday, February 7th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Blue officiating. Burial will follow at Elmore Harris Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Gibsonburg Volunteer Fire Department, Gibsonburg FFA or to S.C.R.A.P.
