Arnold George Rusch, formerly of S. River Road, Fremont, died January 3, 2009 at his home in Sigel, PA. He was born in Fremont over a century ago, on February 12, 1908 to George and Clara (House) Rusch. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1928. Mr. Rusch was a carpenter and also served in the US Army, WWII in the Asia-Pacific Theater. He married Edna Rose Horn at St. Joseph Church July 16, 1949. He was a lifetime member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, a member of their Rosary Altar Society, and also a member of the American Legion. Arnold was an avid gardener all his life; many Fremont residents recall his generosity with the harvests of this labor. Arnold and Edna Rose moved to Sigel PA in 2003. Arnold is survived by sons Melvin and Michael of Fremont, Mark of Clyde, daughter, Marie Gumbert of Sigel, PA, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents, siblings, Mary Louise Good, Paul, William, Louis and Walter and by his wife, Edna Rose (11/5/03). A Funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph Parish Hall. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont with military services provided by the Fremont VFW and American Legion. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Central Catholic High School in Arnolds memory. Arrangements were entrusted to the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont.
