James F. Rusher, Jr.

RUSHER James F. Jr. James F. Rusher Jr., 78, of Gibsonburg died at his home on Saturday, March 7, 2009. He was born on January 15, 1931, in Gibsonburg to James F. and Doris (Jones) Rusher Sr. James graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1949 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. He worked for Sun Oil Co. in Toledo retiring in 1996. On October 5, 1957, he married Assunta "Susie" Ruggerio at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gibsonburg. James was a member of the Gibsonburg American Legion Post 17 and the VFW, along with the Korean War Veteran Assoc. He was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. James volunteered for the American Red Cross, he was active with the Gibsonburg High School, enjoyed camping and traveling. He most of all enjoyed his grandchildren and watching their sporting events. Surviving along with his wife are his sons, Scott (Ann) Rusher of Tempe, AZ, Steven (Stephanie) Rusher of Fremont, James F. (Bettina) Rusher III of Versailles, KY, Mark (Stacey) Rusher of Avon Lake, OH and 13 grandchildren, Derek, Trevor, Anthony, Ann, Bernadette, Patrick, Daniel, Jessica, Michael, Samuel, Greyson, Regan and Peyton Rusher; along with his sisters, Norma Jean (Jim) Ferrenberg of Sevierville, TN and Mary Ann (Howard) Brown of Gibsonburg. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Herman - Kinn - Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2-8 p.m. with a wake service that evening. A funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gibsonburg at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Gibsonburg American Legion Post. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Gibsonburg High School Athletic Boosters, Hospice of Memorial Hospital, St. Michael's Catholic Church or to Trinity United Methodist Church, both in Gibsonburg.
