Loren D.Tater Saam, 85 of Fremont died late Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Rutherford House, Fremont. He was born on October 20, 1923 in Gibsonburg to Paul & Pearl (Inks) Saam. Loren attended Lindsey School and on December 25, 1942 he married Bernice Barber in Napoleon and she survives. Loren served in the 5th Army Aircorp for three years stationed in New Guinea for one year during WWII. He was a pipefitter by trade, working as a superintendent for Bentley Construction in Toledo and he also built several homes in the Fremont area. Loren was an active member of the Masons, Zenobia Shrine flag unit and Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville. He also loved fishing and wood crafting.
Surviving along with his wife of 66 years are his children; Judith (Larry) Overmyer of Fremont, Ronald (Kathleen) and Donald (Pamela) all of Woodville, sister; Wanda (Charles) Soule of Clyde, and a brother Gordon (Jackie) Saam of Fremont, along with 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Loren was preceded in death by his parents and sister; Janet Leid.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 11-1PM with services beginning at 1PM at the funeral home with Pastor William Duty officiating. Burial will follow at Four Mile House Cemetery with military honors provided by the Fremont American Legion and VFW. Memorial contributions may be made to Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville or to Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice.
