Melanie D. Saam, 27 of Marblehead, formerly of Fremont, died Monday at Memorial Hospital. She was born in Fremont to Gary and Louise (Shafer) Saam and they survive in Marblehead. Melanie graduated from Ross High School in 1996 and attended Terra Community College and Wright State University, having played in the Wright State University Band. She was employed as a hostess at the Brown Derby Roadhouse in Sandusky. Melanie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was also involved in Campfire and 4-H and enjoyed drag racing and boating. Surviving Melanie are her companion, Craig Bryant, Huron; sister, Kari (Steve) Durbin, Fremont; nephews Samuel and Carter Durbin, Fremont; grandparents, Mel and Rita Shafer, Fremont, and Dr. Roy and Hazel Rodabaugh, Ada. Melanie is preceded by grandparents Donal Saam and Geraldine (Saam) Rodabaugh. Visitation: 2-9 p.m. Thursday at Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials: Grace Lutheran Church Organ Fund or the Ross High Band
