Fremont resident David W. Schoch, Sr., age 65, died very unexpectedly Friday evening, April 6, at the emergency room of Memorial Hospital in Fremont.
Born on August 5, 1941 to Delbert and Mary Kathleen (Stewart) Schoch in Fremont, David attended Fremont Ross High School and worked 21 years at Swift Eckrich. He later retired from the Ohio Operating Engineers, Local 18, in Maumee where he drove heavy equipment for seven years. David enjoyed the outdoors. He loved boating, fishing and hunting and was known by his hunting friends as Killer. He spent time camping at his Port Clinton home away from home Camp David. David also liked looking for bargains at area auctions and helping friends on their farms.
Surviving is his wife Febe, children David (Jane) Schoch, Jr. of Georgia, Annette (Larry) Stertzbach of Cuyahoga Falls, and Sonya Schoch and her fianc Doug Reed of Gibsonburg, grandchildren Christina (Matt) Arnold, Jillian and Seth Stertzbach and Ryan, Adam and Noah Schoch, and siblings Rosemary Heath of California, Richard of Florida, Janet (Juan) Juarez of Texas, Kathleen (Terry) Temple of Crestline, Michael (Sue) of Gibsonburg and Sherri Whitt, Dennis (Pat) and Robin Schoch all of Clyde.
David is preceded in death by his parents and brother in laws James Heath and Jerry Whitt.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, 11:00 a.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont. Davids son in law, Rev. Larry Stertzbach, will officiate. Friends and family will be welcomed at the funeral home Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
Burial will be at the St. Jacobs Cemetery, Republic, Ohio.
