Nancy Scranton, 63 of Fremont, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at her home due to complications of advanced stage cancer. She was born on June 29, 1946 in Grand Rapids, MI to Harvey and Lena (DeHaan) Marlowe. Nancy was a 1964 graduate of Rogers High School in Wyoming, MI, a 1968 graduate of Valparaiso University with a BA in Education and a 1973 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a JD. On January 27, 1968 she married James L. Scranton in Valparaiso University Chapel, Valparaiso, IN and he survives in Fremont. Nancy was an Attorney at Law retiring in June 2005. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving on church council, the call committee at the church, a member of the church choir and she was a Sunday School Teacher. Nancy was a member of the American, Ohio and Sandusky County Bar Associations.
Surviving in addition to her husband are son, Paul (Kelly) Scranton of Dayton and their children Sean, Cieran and Bridget Scranton; daughter, Abigail (Britain) Woodman of Wolverine Lake, MI and their daughter, Elizabeth Woodman; and son Peter Scranton of Columbus, OH; brothers, Harvey (Jean) Marlowe of Jenison, MI, Dennis (Jackie) Marlowe of Vancouver, WA; and a sister, Janice (Larry) Belanger of Kentwood, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 24, 2009 from 1-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with Certified Celebrant, Maureen Pump officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
