Olive Ollie Shiets, 92 of Fremont, died Tuesday evening at Bethesda Care Center. She was born on January 9, 1915 in Oak Harbor to the now deceased John and Louise (Hanny) Woodrick. On April 26, 1941 she married Cleo F. Shiets and he died July 7, 1998. Ollie was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. She worked as a clerk at the Erlin Elevator, Associated Buyers, Henchs Pastry, Nitchkes Flowers, Johnsonss Greenhouse and Woolworths, retiring in the 1980s. Ollie taught Sunday school at St. Johns Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Riley Reepers Garden Club, Riley Grange and she enjoyed bowling. She loved to grow and arrange flowers, cooking, canning and baking. Surviving is a son, John (Shirley) Shiets and a daughter, Millie (Denny) Fetterman both of Fremont; 5 grandchildren, Debra (Ed) DeMars, Tim Fetterman, Amy Keeran, Christine (Jeff) Donnell and Steven (Bridget) Shiets;11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Cora Overmyer, Mabel Risch, Emma Woodrick, Viola Frosch, Lena Windnagel, Leonard Woodrick and Marian Smith.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 23 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Services will be held on Saturday at St. Johns Lutheran Church at 10:30 am with visitation one hour prior to the services at church. Pastor Robert Quillen will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Garden, Clyde. Memorial donations in Ollies name may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or to St Johns Lutheran Church Youth Ministry.
