Florence M. Shively

Florence M. Shively, 79, of Gibsonburg, died on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Toledo Hospital. She was born on February 4, 1929 in Gibsonburg to the now deceased Jessie and Hattie Mae (Moll) Van Ness. Florence was a 1948 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. On June 4, 1949 she married Emery C. Shively at Zion Lutheran Church and he died August 5, 2003. Florence was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a past member of the Gibsonburg Garden Club, the 48' Club, Women's Circle at Church. She worked at Singer Controls in Fremont and was a cook at the Gibsonburg High School for 19 years. Florence enjoyed gardening, camping, feeding the birds and squirrels. Surviving are sons, James (Susan), Gary (Pam) and John (Treva) all of Gibsonburg; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jess (Jean) Van Ness Jr. of Fremont, Claude Van Ness of Martin, OH, Clara Ellen Jenck of Fremont and Dorothy Foss of Huron, OH. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings - Violet Schlea, Lula Ward, Martha Shull, Marguerite Aldrich, Dale, Harold, Charles and Paul Van Ness. Visitation is Thursday, March 13 from 2-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. where there will be one hour of visitation prior to the services. Pastor Blair Miller will be officiating. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery. Memorials: Zion Lutheran Church or Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
