Larry "Dot" Smith, 69, of Gibsonburg, died early Friday morning at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont. He was born on January 31, 1940 to the late Earl and Ethel (Lerch) Smith. Larry was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School. After graduation he worked as a meat cutter at Smith's Meats of Gibsonburg, as well as managing his own market, Smith's Market in Hessville. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hessville. Larry enjoyed woodworking, working word search puzzles, cooking, baking and playing church dartball. Dot is survived by his children, Jeffrey Smith of Fremont and Todd (Becky) Smith of TN; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a godchild; and siblings, Donald, Lyle, Kenny, Marjorie, Diane and Sandy. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dale, Keith, Earl Jr., Pauline and his twin, Gary; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg where services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Martin Billmeier officiating. Burial will be at Hessville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations in Larry's memory may be made to his family.
