Herman R. Smith, Jr.

Herman R. Smith Jr. (Smitty), 54, Fremont died early Wednesday morning at his residence. He was born on July 5, 1950 to Herman R. and Rosa Bell Caroline (Havens) Smith Sr. His mother preceded him in death and he was raised by his aunt and uncle Sam & Lois Havens. Smitty served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and also in Germany. He worked in construction until he became disabled. Smitty was a member of the Fremont Moose Lodge 1286.

He is survived by life-time companion, Elaine Cascaden, children Jason Ross (Kelly) Smith, Shelly Ann Smith, Jeremy Ross Smith, Roseanna Lee Eileen Smith, six grandchildren; siblings - Patricia (Bruce) Wilson, Linda Smith, Sheila (Tim) Music, Joseph Havens, Samuel (Dawn) Havens, Donald (Kathy) Havens, Franklin Havens, Raymond (Penny) Havens, Christopher (Pam) Havens and James (Laurie) Havens.

Also preceding him in death is a sister Martha Adams.

A memorial service with military rites will be held at the residence, 1919 CR 202, Fremont on Monday, April 4th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Alfred Havens. There is no visitation.
