Agnes "Aggie" M. Stokes

FREMONT: Agnes M. "Aggie" Stokes, 87, of Fremont died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at her home with her family. She was born on August 13, 1924 in Macon, MO to Carl and Ella (Martin) Claus

Aggie graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1942 and on October 28, 1944 she married her high school sweetheart, Albert C. Stokes, Jr. who survives in Fremont. Aggie worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for Grace Lutheran Church, retiring in 1986. She was also a homemaker, an avid bridge player and a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she attended bible study and was active with Grace Fellowship. Aggie was a volunteer for Lutheran Social Services, a campfire leader, and the originator of In-Betweeners.

Surviving are her children Georgia (Rev. Dr. Craig) Boehike of Bluffton, SC, Rebecca (David) Prasuhn of Fremont. William (Louise) Stokes of Apple Valley, MN, grandchildren, Melissa and Benjamin Boehlke, Timothy and Emily Prasuhn, Tyler and Matthew Stokes, and one great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Edmond.

Aggie was preceded in death by an infant son, John; and her siblings. Ruth Varley, Oscar Claus, Viola May, along with her parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church at 11 AM with Pastor Keith Hunsinger officiating. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Hospice of Memorial Hospital or to the National Parkinson's Foundation.
