Life long Lindsey resident Shirley Overmyer Strohl died Saturday afternoon, April 28, at the Parkview Care Center in Fremont. She was born in Lindsey to the late Elbert E. and Leila (Ream) Overmyer.
Shirley graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1925 and from the Bowling Green State University in 1929.
Shirley married Norman E. Strohl on August 11, 1934 in Lindsey. He died in 1984.
She was a dedicated teacher and taught in Sandusky, Erie, and Ottawa counties, including 25 years at the former Harris-Elmore Elementary School. Shirley was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Trinity United Methodist Church in Lindsey.
Surviving is her daughter Virginia Strohl of New Mexico, nieces and a nephew. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, and sister Maxine Overmyer Price.
Funeral services will be Tuesday May 1 at 11a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lindsey. Pastor Todd Gates will officiate. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the services.
Burial will be at the Lindsey Cemetery. Donations in Shirleys name may be made to the church. Arrangements were made through Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont.
