Former Clyde resident, George Raymond Thomas, age 91, died Tuesday evening, January 9, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Missouri. Born in rural Sandusky County, Rollersville, Ohio on May 18, 1915, he was the son of Raymond and Jenny (Klutz) Thomas. George graduated from the Jackson-Burgoon High School and served in the US Navy during WWII stationed on the USS Navarro in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Later he worked as a contractor, owning and operating the T & W Excavation Company of Fremont. He retired in 1962. In 1936 he married Katherine Thomsen in Fremont. She died in 1995. George was a former member of the Clyde VFW and Eagles and enjoyed farming and gardening. He was an avid bowler and lived for tournament play. He was known to be a handyman and a Mr. Fix It. Surviving him are children Robert (Cynthia) Thomas of Lees Summit, Missouri and Karen (Robert) Wolfe of Sylvania, 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Georges parents, wife, daughter Barbara Rae Bailey and sisters Lucille Moeller, Ruth Dick and Irene Osmus preceded him in death. Graveside services at Oakwood Cemetery in Fremont were private. The Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont handled local arrangements.
